Amy Doughty – Assistant Artistic Director

Amy trained in Australia, gaining her Solo Seal certificate (RAD) and Diploma in Dance. Since joining Ballet Cymru in 1996 she has danced a variety of roles with the company and became Ballet Mistress in 2001. In 2009 she was awarded the Jane Attenborough Dance in Education Fellowship through the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and now undertakes much of the company’s education programme.

Amy regularly teaches throughout the UK and internationally and in 2009 completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Creative Arts. She has published articles for Dance Europe and Dance Australia magazines as well as a play written in 2009.

Amy has received grants from the Arts Council of Wales which has contributed towards her professional development and enabled her to choreograph her first work for the company – ‘This Night’ in 2008. Subsequent works created include ‘Stranger’ in 2009 and ‘September’ in 2010. Amy is currently studying towards a Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning through DTAP and Trinity College London.
